The old dairy farm caravan and camping is in Cropedy in Banbury. It is a family run campsite with around 90 pitches. We have stayed at this campsite twice and so I have decided to review our experiences there to help you decide if this campsite is somewhere you would like to stay.
Both times we have visited the old dairy farm caravan and camping we have been in our campervan. We are pretty self contained, we have our own cooking facilities, toilet and have no need for electricity. When staying here we haven’t had the kids with us and have enjoyed a kid free weekend. A bonus for us is that my Granny lives in Banbury so we can combine a camping trip with a visit to see her. It’s around a 90 minute drive for us to get there making it a good distance to get away for an evening.
We have visited the campsite in August and also April and been blessed with beautiful weather both times – although i’m not sure the campsite can take the credit for that one!

What is on the campsite?
The campsite is set close to Bambury and the M40. We have quite a large campervan and were able to access the site easily without the stress of narrow single track roads. Having said that, it feels like you are in a lovely countryside campsite when you are there. Probably even more so to a pair of Londoners like us! The Old dairy farm caravan and camping site is family run and you can tell they are a family friendly campsite.
There are approximately 90 pitches on site. Pitches with electric hook-up are available. There is a toilet and shower block as well as some toilets on the second camping field. Washing-up facilities are available, the sinks are a good size and there’s hot water. There is an elsan point which is quirky and I had to take a photo. Drinking water points are available around the campsite.

There is a shop onsite which sells the essentials, as well as a bar! They do also offer hot food on certain days, and even wood fired pizzas on busy weekends. Opposite this there is a lovely sheltered seating area, so no matter the weather there’s a place to sit and enjoy your food.
Fire pits are available to hire – s’mores when camping are a must!

Is the old dairy farm kid friendly?
Both times we have visited we haven’t had any of the kids with us. However, seeing the facilities and other families around we have a good idea about whether it seems kid friendly. Firstly, I have to say the campsite feels very secure. You can see most of it from wherever you are so it’s a great campsite to give the kids a bit of freedom and independence.
The main attraction for the kids has to be the goats. That’s right – goats! The campsite is home to some super cute pygmy goats. They are very friendly and didn’t even seem phased by the dogs walking past. There are also aviaries with different birds, and some chickens too!

There is a play area, which is great for smaller kids. When we visited most recently they also had a bouncy castle which seemed to always have very happy children on board. The previous time there were kids excitedly running around with water guns. So always something to do.
Is it dog friendly?
Yes! There were quite a few dogs on site when we visited, although not an overwhelming number. All were kept on leads and were very well behaved. Considering there were quite a few doggies on the campsite we didn’t see any dog mess anywhere.
What did we like?
We loved the relaxed pitches. We attended with a large group of friends so it was nice to be able to park together and sit together in the evenings. All the facilities were very clean, even toilets on the second camping field. The shop was great for getting any forgotten essentials, and there is enough nearby to do a bigger shop if needed. The staff we encountered were very friendly and welcoming.
The goats! What’s not to love about goats? They really are very sweet to watch, and having the seating area overlooking them means you can sit and enjoy watching them while you eat.
What didn’t we like?
There wasn’t much we didn’t like or enjoy about the old dairy caravan and camping site to be honest. We had a couple of small niggles, if we had to nit pick. One of the locks on the ladies toilet doors didn’t work properly and one toilet had a broken toilet seat. The toilets were always spotless and well stocked though.

I don’t recall seeing any bins in the second camping field. There is a central bin area at the entrance to the site. Walking with a full dog poo bag can feel like a long walk – why do they always do it at the furthest point from the bin? Even though they could maybe do with more bins, there wasn’t any litter anywhere.
We have seen some reviews online mentioning the trains that pass fairly close to the campsite, I can honestly say we didn’t notice them at all, so please don’t let that put you off. We were sleeping in our van though, so it may be more noticeable in a tent.
Would we stay again?
Absolutely! We love this campsite, it’s a great price for such a lovely campsite. The family vibes definitely shine through making it feel welcoming and safe. It’s in a great location as well, a short distance from the town but also relaxing with lots of greenery all around. Campervan friendly, family friendly and dog friendly. It gets a big thumbs up from us!
